So, yesterday we went to watch the movie “INFERNO”. I was pretty excited about the movie, cause I am a big Dan Brown fan and a bigger fan of Robert Langdon. But before you begin, I want you to know that this article contains a lot of spoilers! If you already have read the book and watched the movie, you are good to go but if you haven’t read or watched it yet and but planning to, may be you should skip. 🙂
It’s a movie from Ron Howard, who previously made films from two other Dan Brown books, The Da Vinci Code & Angels & Demons. They both were box office hit, so everyone was waiting with big hope. Even at friday night, when most of the Korean people spends times in bars with drinking, a quite number of people were present at 10.30 show! :0
It says, when a movie is made out of a book, half the story gets lost. This is much true for Dan Brown novels, because he always builds up the story with piles of information and twist, which makes the reader keep turning pages. However, it’s not really possible to show everything of a book in a 2-3 hours show.
When Robert Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Dr. Sienna Brooks, and together they must race across Europe against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.
The story was quite the same as the book except some little portions. Tom Hanks was brilliant as usual as Robert Langdon, though his mystery or symbol solving ability was not much visible in the movie, but anyways, he’s always the one who solves it at the end. But I think a little background on the character Dr. Sienna could be better, rather than making a past affair plot of Dr. Elizabeth & Robert. I think, they made it just to add some romance, to draw attention of some certain viewers, making it look more significant when WHO, specially Dr. Elizabeth asks for Robert‘s help. In the book, we saw at the end, the world has already been affected with some vector virus, making 1/3 of the population sterile, but here it is shown that, Robert & WHO, with the help of the private company, The Consortium, finally prevent that from happening by finding the virus before it gets explode.
In the book, the mentioned time was the time when the world will be fully infected, because Dr. Zobrist actually started the process a week ago, and there’s nothing could’ve been done then. But Dr. Sienna herself tries to stop the virus infection too, but she doesn’t want WHO to experiment with it again. She loved Dr. Zobrist‘s works and she loved him as a person, and we saw the book finishes making her a hero, who decided to continue the works of Dr. Zobrist.
In the movie, she died in a fight trying to make the virus spread out. Also, the leader/ provost, of The Consortium was killed at the end, by some Zobrist fanatic. But in the book, we see otherwise.
Anyways, the other things remained unchanged. If you only watch the movie it’s a good one, but if you read the book before, and try to compare, you may feel disappointed.
The music was awesome! The movie was too fast, it makes you to concentrate. The sound effect and filming made the movie more alive. Casting was okay, and most importantly when there is Tom Hanks, you do not need any excuses to watch the movie. lol 😛 Boy, he is a sweet heart, even at this age! ❤
I will rate this movie a 6.5 on 10.
Hope you guys enjoyed! Have a happy holiday. 🙂
