A Messy World

Buying international makeup in Korea is quite expensive, because you have to pay a lot of taxes. But again buying base makeup in Korea is a waste of money for brown girls like me, because they have very limited ranges of shade available in their beauty market, so almost every time you end up buying the wrong shade. I’ve tried a variety ranges of base makeup products of K-beauty, none of them ever was an exact match for my skin which is an olive-yellow combo. All I ever got was something close to my tone, I often had to use yellow food color or two to three foundations together to have that “closer” tone. Anyways, I was tired of going through this foundation shade dilemma and also realize that buying two to three foundations and the food colors always actually costing me nearly same the amount of buying international products…

Makeover on other people

Sometimes people believe in yourself more than you do, and that’s when you can truly realize your potential. ❤ sharing my experience of doing makeup on friends and families ❤

A Messy World

Although I consider myself a MUA, but I learned every little thing about makeup practicing on myself. So, whenever someone asked me if I could do a makeover on them, I was not really sure at first if I could do it at all, because I never had any idea what it’s like to put foundations or eyeshadows on other people. But sometimes people believe in yourself more than you do, and that’s when you can truly realize your potential. ❤ My labmates (female) always told that “you should do a makeover on us sometimes”. But, as mentioned before, I never really understand my potential, and always thought they weren’t really serious about it. But few months ago, when they asked me again, I finally understood they were actually serious. So, at the end of december we fixed a convenient date and that was the first time ever I did…

Naqia: Coconut Oil Review

It’s really freezing outside, here in Korea. The only problem I got with winter is it always ends up messing with my skin care routine. None of them seems to work anymore during these days. No matter how many times I moisturize my face, an hour later it starts feeling dry again. 😦

I just came back from Bangladesh, and while I was there, I received a sample coconut oil of one company, called Naqia, who wants my review on their product. The owner contacted with me in facebook first, and sent the product nearly 4 months ago in my home address in Bangladesh.

Naqia sells pure homemade coconut oil, which is edible and as well as useful for hair, skin and weight loss functions (according to owner).

After any kinda travelling it’s quite normal for skin to act dull and gloomy, specially when you have to travel for two days to get to the destination, which makes nearly four days of journey in less than one month. Naturally that affects your skin. So, when I came back here, after my visit to Bangladesh, I could clearly see, my skin was also tired like me and that it needed proper rest and attention, that is a better moisture care. So, as an experiment, I thought about using coconut oil on my skin. Although I never used coconut oil on my skin before, but I heard from my sister in law that coconut oil is a good moisturizer during winter. Also, the seller mentioned about Naqia Coconut Oil’s effectiveness about moisturizing. For last two days I am using this coconut oil on my face, neck and hands, and I’m really impressed by the result! My skin feels really soft and a lot smooth, and also less tired! Although the owner mentioned that this coconut oil can also be used for hair care and cooking purpose, but I think I will keep using it as a moisturizer.

My Thoughts:

Rating: 8.5/10

As I mentioned before, I am impressed by the moisturizing effect of this coconut oil. So, I would definitely recommend this to others who is dealing with the problems of dry skin.

Hope you enjoyed the post! If you are interested to buy this product you can contact here:

Life of a researcher

The biggest joke of my life is, I actually became an engineer. Wait, it’s not over yet, the greatest one is yet to come, which is….. “I am working as a researcher for more than a year”. Funny, huh? That girl, who barely passed the 4th grade, with two F grades in “English grammar & Literature” in two consecutive term exams (PS: We have three terms in the school curriculum of our country), is working as researcher lol :p Not only that, sometimes she even writes research paper! I think now you can understand why my English is so lame. 😉 How did I come here, it’s whole other different story, which I explained in parts in some articles in this blog. But here I will describe about the life of a researcher:

  • There are so many things in a researcher’s life, and the worst of the worst of them is, “I am supposed to work with something new, that no one ever heard of”. Like, seriously? Even when I am a makeup freak, I never did really buy anything without checking any review, that girl has to work with a new thing? You gotta be kidding me -_- So, the beginning of a any researcher life is all about searching!

  • Now, when you actually, find some topic, you need to make it work. C’mon, you have to let the world know about your research by writing a paper or an article, huh! 😉 That’s when you realize, even you have a topic, you have no idea, how to make it work!

aww, poor researcher! 😦

  • Conflict of “what you are supposed to do” vs “what you actually do”.

Research laboratories usually have enough food and free WiFi, which makes them  a perfect resting place. -_-

  • Your parents and relatives will always assume that you are some kinda super hero, who alone is saving this planet by all her research and almost 8 hours of lab duty. Every time you talk with them over phone you will sense their anxiety about how you are managing all these big matter all by yourself and also that how proud they are about you.

where in reality:

  • In research life, your Professor is always the boss. And to him/her, no matter how much study you’ve done, you are just ‘JON SNOW’, who knows nothing at all.

After a long meeting of hearing your work progress and future work plan, his/her reply will be:

  • The most difficult thing to cope with is when your partner is also a researcher, with a tight schedule. There will be days when he stays in his lab almost 20 hours in a day and comes home only to take rest and you’re like:

But, no matter how much difficult it is, at the end of the day, life is beautiful and it will always give you a reason to live the best of it. 🙂

Get rid of dry patch on the face overnight (oily skin routine)!

Korean weather is really weird and unpredictable. Specially if you move here from South East Asian part, it’s harder for you to get adjusted fully. Most importantly, you have to be really careful, conscious and  maintain a strict daily skin care routine to nurture your skin. Sadly for me, as a researcher, my schedule is really tight and little bit time I get for myself, when I get too lazy to try anything. So, my skin’s fate is on the hands of weather always, if the weather is good, my skin gets better, but if it’s bad, well my skin gets really bad. As I mentioned, Korean weather is weird, so even in summer, my face started developing some dry patches, which were giving me some hard time while blending foundations. I have super oily skin, but still my face is getting dry in some areas! >_< Mostly because of the hot weather we sweat a lot, which makes our skin dehydrated eventually. :/ So, after going home yesterday, I realized, it’s time to stop being lazy for an hour, take some proper care for my skin. So, what I did was following:

Moisture pack: First of all I needed something which will make skin feel moisturized. So, I made a pack with 3 tbsp of plain yogurt, 1 tbsp of honey & 2 tbsp of chick pea powder. Mix them well and put it on your face. Keep it for 20 mins at least and then wash it off.

Gelatin Pack:  This is for dealing with black heads and white heads. Take 1 tbsp of gelatin and 1-2 tbsp of milk, and microwave the mixture for 15-20 seconds. Put them on the areas of your face with black or white heads, like nose or chin area. Keep them till it get dry, till you really feel the dryness. Usually takes 15-30 minutes depending on the thickness of the layers of your applications. After that, peel it off slowly.

Black Charcoal Mask: Now, time to deal with the dry flaky skin. Take a small amount from any charcoal mask, and put them on your face. Keep it for 5-10 minutes. Then clean your face with warm water while rubbing and massaging with fingers. I used Freeman Black Charcoal Mask, you can use whatever is available to you. If you can’t find a mask, just a scrubber will do the job, but you may need to do the massaging for a long time.
At last, finish your routine with a watery moisturizer.  I used It’s skin clinical solution AC moisture emulsion. The picture below is taken this morning, and as you can see, my skin looks quite fresh! And this picture is without any edit or filter.

Other than these, I use a combination of It’s skin clinical solution AC (toner+ calming serum+ moisture emulsion) two times a day, in the morning and in the night.
Hope you enjoyed the post! 🙂

Perrie Edwards inspired Golden brown smoky eye tutorial (and Tony moly dual stamp eye liner review as bonus!) ^^

❤ ❤

A Messy World

So, we all noticed Perrie Edwards look in Little Mix’s hit song “Shout out to my ex!”. She is already really beautiful and that little star under her eyes surely created a new trend. And so when I saw the dual stamp eyeliner from Tony moly, I couldn’t control myself from buying one lol 😉

Dual stamp eyeliner from Tonymoly has two sides, one with stamp and one with eyeliner. There were three stamp shapes available: a smiley face, heart shape and a star. I loved the heart shape, so I bought that one. Though the tip of the eyeliner is not that thin, so you need to be careful while applying. But the eye liner is waterproof and stays without getting smudged. ^_^

Let’s stop talking and go straight in to the tutorial. This is my first talk through tutorial. I hope you would enjoy the video. Don’t forget…
